Adar Gandelsman was an Israeli model. She was Miss Israel's first-place runner-up, and also won the title Miss Universe Israel 2017. Adar was a part of the Miss Universe 2017 pageant, but she did not place. Gandelsman, Miss Universe Iraq 2017 took a photo with Sarah Idan during the pageant. Idan and her entire family fled Iraq in December 2017 after being slammed by Iraqi citizens about her photo with Miss Israel. Miss Israel is born in Ashkelon in Israel and was born to Ashkenazi Jewish parents, who immigrated to Israel in 1992 from Brazil. [1][2] Adar Gandelsman, her initial name, is a reference to a Hebrew month.
